SPOKANE, WA - Teams that start 1-7 are usually not in the same sentence as first place, but the Indians can now say the two phrases together. Tonight the Indians beat the Boise Hawks 8-3, and along with Yakima's win against Tri-cities it gave the Indians sole possession of first place in the Northwest League East.
Indians starting pitcher Nicholas McBride picked up his first win of the season, pitching five innings, while allowing only two earned runs on five hits. Relief pitchers Colby Killian and Zach Osborne pitched four shutout innings to finish the game.
Spokane's hitters roughed up Boise starting pitcher Yao-Lin Wang early, scoring three runs in the first three innings. The Boise bullpen didn't fare much better allowing five more runs in the last five innings. Indians shortstop Jurickson Profar was 3 for 4, scoring one run on a sliding play at the plate.
Designated hitter Andrew Clark continued his hot streak for the Indians going 2 for 3, while scoring two runs, driving in two RBIs and walking twice. Clark has drawn six walks in the last three games and has hit safely in seven of the last ten games. First baseman Clark Murphy and right fielder Yefry Castillo each drove in two runs tonight as well.
The Indians are home tomorrow night at Avista Stadium starting at 6:30 for the finale of the three game series with the Boise Hawks. Tomorrow is Fish and Wildlife night presented by Regional Council of Carpenters and KIX 96.1 FM.
