SPOKANE, WA - The Indians didn't hold the top spot in the Northwest League East Division for long before Boise wanted it back. The Hawks scored early off of Indians starting pitcher Juan Grullon and held on to the lead late to beat the Indians 4-2.

Grullon, who made his Indians debut tonight, gave up three runs on eight hits in the first four innings. Boise starting pitcher Austin Kirk fared a little better, giving up two runs on four hits including a solo home run by third baseman, Michael Olt, his first of the season.

The Indians stayed close until the eighth inning when Boise first baseman Richard Jones, hit a solo home run off Indians pitcher Jimmy Reyes. The home run gave the Hawks a 4-2 lead.

The Indians attempted to rally in the ninth inning, when first baseman Andrew Clark and right fielder Yefry Castillo both singled. Catcher Brett Nicholas hit a line drive that Boise center fielder Kyung-Min Na caught on a diving catch with the tip of his glove. After pinch-hitter Clark Murphy was hit by a pitch, the Indians turned to 2010 first round pick Jake Skole with the bases loaded. Skole battled to a 2-2 count, fouling off three pitches but popped up to end the game.

The Indians are off tomorrow and will start a five game series in Everett against the AquaSox on Thursday. The Indians return to Avista Stadium on July 13th at 6:30pm for Baseball Hat Giveaway presented by Pepsi, Arby's and The Inlander.
